How to Enroll in the ARM Designation

Enroll in the ARM (Associate in Risk Management) designation by purchasing your first course online — there are no prerequisites or applications required.

Before You Start

• Time estimate: Most students complete ARM in 6–9 months.
• No prerequisites — anyone can enroll, regardless of education or experience.
• All three core courses and the ethics course are 100% online, with online exam prep and virtual exams.
• A free 30–45 minute sample course is available if you want to preview the format before buying.

Steps

1. Go to the ARM designation page on TheInstitutes.org and review the course list.
2. Select ARM 400: Mastering Risk Management Techniques and add it to your cart.
3. Choose the Online Learning with Exam Prep package, then complete checkout.
4. Work through the course online at your own pace — materials include a printable study outline, an AI-powered learning support tool, hundreds of practice questions, and a simulated exam.
5. Register for your exam through My Courses & Exams during one of the four annual testing windows, then complete ARM 401 and ARM 402 the same way.
6. Complete Ethics 311: Ethical Decision Making in Risk & Insurance — it’s included at no additional charge and required for all three Associate-level tracks under ARM.

Exam Details

• Format: Virtual, proctored exam — 50 multiple-choice questions, 65-minute time limit.
• Testing windows: January 15–March 15, April 15–June 15, July 15–September 15, and October 15–December 15.

What You Get Credit Toward
