CE credit availability depends on your state and license type. Not every course qualifies in every state — always check before you register.
Look Up CE-Approved Courses
Important: CE approval varies by state and license type. A course that qualifies for CE in one state may not qualify in another — or may only apply to certain license types. Check before registering, not after.
- Go to the State CE Credit & License Information page.
- Select your license type (e.g., Producer/Property-Casualty, Adjuster).
- Select your state.
- Review the list of approved courses and the credit hours awarded for each.
Add Your License Number or NPN
Your state license number and/or NPN (National Producer Number) must be on file with The Institutes before you register for your exam to receive CE credit.
- Log in at TheInstitutes.org.
- Go to My Account > Profile > Licenses.
- Enter your state license number and/or NPN.
- Save your changes.
Tip: If you don’t know your NPN, look it up at nipr.com.
After Your Exam
Once you pass a CE-eligible exam, The Institutes submits your credits to your state within 1–2 business days. Allow additional time for your state to post credits to your transcript — this varies by state. Verify that credits were received by checking directly with your state Department of Insurance — The Institutes cannot confirm what your state has on file.
Note: Proctor requirements for CE-eligible exams are set by your state, not by The Institutes. Some states require an in-person proctor. Check the State CE Credit & License Information page for your state’s requirements before exam day.
