CE Seat Timer Explained

Modified on Wed, 3 Jun at 10:16 AM

Some states require a minimum amount of “seat time” (time spent in the course) to award CE credit. Here’s how it works for Institutes courses.

How It Works

Important: The Institutes tracks seat time for CE compliance purposes but does not provide detailed time reports to students. If your employer requires documentation of exact time spent, this level of detail is not available from the system.

  • CE-eligible courses track your time in the online platform to meet state seat-time requirements.
  • The timer runs while you are actively engaged with course content.
  • You must meet the minimum seat-time requirement for your state before the course is marked as complete.

Common Misunderstandings

  • Seat time is tracked automatically — you do not need to log or report it yourself.
  • If you close the browser and return later, your progress is saved and the timer resumes where you left off.
