This article is for third-party background-check or credentialing vendors (e.g., First Advantage, HireRight, Applicant Insight, ScreeningOne, Owens OnLine, AAAVerify) who need to verify that an individual holds an Institutes designation on behalf of an employer or licensing authority. Students looking to request a verification letter for their own use should see Obtaining Designation Verification & Confirmation Letters instead.
What The Institutes Can Verify
- That a named individual holds a specific Institutes designation (CPCU, AINS, AIC, ARM, AU, etc.) and the date it was awarded.
- That a named individual completed a specific course or exam and the date.
- That an individual is currently enrolled in a program.
What The Institutes Cannot Provide
- Transcripts to third parties. Official transcripts (used for college credit) are issued only to the student through the standard transcript-request process. We do not send transcripts to background-check vendors directly.
- GPA, exam scores, or detailed academic records. The Institutes is a professional development organization, not an accredited academic institution. We do not issue letter grades or GPAs.
- Records for individuals who have not authorized release. A signed consent / release from the candidate is required.
How to Submit a Verification Request
- Email Customer Success with the request.
- Attach the consent documentation your firm uses to authorize disclosure of education records.
- Include:
- The candidate’s full name and date of birth (and any prior names — maiden name, etc.)
- The candidate’s Student ID if known
- The specific information you need verified (designation held, course completion, enrollment status)
- Your firm’s return contact (email, fax, or vendor reference number)
What to Expect
- We will respond by email or fax to the contact provided. Allow time for processing.
- If consent documentation is missing or unclear, we will contact you to request it before responding.
- Verification is yes/no with a date — we confirm what’s on record but do not provide additional details beyond the consented scope.
Note: We do not issue transcripts or completion certificates directly to third parties. If a transcript is required for the verification, the candidate must order it themselves through their Institutes account.
If You’re a Student Asked to Provide Education Verification
If your prospective employer or background-check vendor asks you to provide education verification, the simplest path is usually:
- Provide your Institutes completion certificate for the relevant course or designation (resend it to yourself if needed — see How to Get Your Completion Certificate Resent).
- For an official letter, see Obtaining Designation Verification & Confirmation Letters.
- If your background-check vendor needs to contact The Institutes directly, you can sign their consent / release and they’ll route the request through Customer Success.
