The Institutes Mobile App

Courses by The Institutes is The Institutes’ mobile app for studying on the go. It’s included with every designation course at no extra cost and gives you audiobook-style lessons and exam-style practice questions.

Before You Start

• You need a designation course purchase. The app can’t be bought on its own.
• App access follows your course enrollment. A course purchase includes one year of enrollment from the purchase date, and the course stays in the app as long as you’re enrolled.
• The app is available for iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play).

Steps

1. Download Courses by The Institutes from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Open the app and choose how to sign in:
   • Sign in with Institutes Account — if you take your course on TheInstitutes.org. Use the same email and password as the website.
   • Sign in with Company Email — if you take your course through your employer’s learning system.
3. Your courses load automatically. Pick a course and choose Learn (audio lessons) or Practice (practice questions).

What’s in the App

• Audio lessons — audiobook-style lessons adapted from your course materials and aligned to the same learning objectives. Adjust playback speed, skip forward or back, auto-play, bookmark a moment with a note, and set a sleep timer.
• Offline listening — download lessons ahead of time and listen without a connection.
• Practice questions — exam-style questions with instant feedback.

The app is a study supplement. Audio lessons don’t count toward course completion or assessment, and they’re paced for listening rather than read word for word. Completion is tracked in your online course at TheInstitutes.org.

Which Designations Include the App?

All designation courses include the app except Associate in National Flood Insurance (ANFI), which uses FEMA flood manuals as its course materials. Designations with the app:

Troubleshooting

Course not showing?

The app shows the designation courses you’re currently enrolled in. If one is missing, log in at TheInstitutes.org and confirm the course appears in My Courses & Exams. Still missing? See My Course Isn’t Showing in the Mobile App.

Login error?

Make sure you chose the right sign-in option. For an Institutes account, use your preferred email — check it under My Account > Profile on the website.
