Monitor Approval Number Prompt Explained

Modified on Wed, 3 Jun at 10:17 AM

If you see a “Monitor Approval Number” prompt when launching your exam, enter any value (such as “1234”) and click continue. This field is not required and does not affect your exam.

What’s Happening

The Monitor Approval Number field is a vestigial system prompt that should not appear during virtual exams. It was originally part of an in-person proctoring workflow and is not relevant to today’s online testing experience.

Note: The Institutes is aware of this issue and is working to remove the field. In the meantime, entering any value will allow you to proceed.

What to Enter

  • Any value works — type “1234”, “N/A”, or any characters
  • The field does not validate what you enter
  • Your exam will launch normally after you submit

New York State License Number

In some cases, the prompt may reference a New York State license number. If you hold a New York insurance license, you can enter your NY license number. If you don’t, enter any value — it will not affect your exam or CE credit reporting.
