Important: Your CPCU does not expire. The CPCU in Good Standing program ended on December 31, 2025. Your CPCU designation will not be invalidated for not reporting CE, and there is nothing you need to do to keep it active. You do not need to report CE credits to The Institutes for CPCU. (You may still need to report CE for your state insurance license — that’s separate; see CE Credit Reporting & Troubleshooting.)
The CPCU Society is a separate organization from The Institutes. Here’s what you need to know about joining, conferment, and the Good Standing program.
Important: The CPCU Society and The Institutes are different organizations. The Institutes manages your designation coursework and exams. The CPCU Society manages membership, chapters, events, and networking. For Society questions, contact them directly — not The Institutes.
I have CE credits from late 2025 — do I need to report them?
No. The CPCU in Good Standing program ended on December 31, 2025. CE credits you earned in late 2025 do not need to be reported to The Institutes for CPCU. If your state insurance license requires CE reporting, that’s a separate process — see CE Credit Reporting & Troubleshooting.

Joining the CPCU Society
Membership is open to all risk management and insurance professionals — you don’t need to hold the CPCU designation. Many candidates join before completing their designation to start building connections early.
Conferment Ceremony
New CPCU designees are celebrated each year at the In2Risk conference hosted by the CPCU Society. To qualify for that year’s ceremony, you must complete your final CPCU exam no later than the April 15 – June 15 testing window.
CPCU in Good Standing — Program Update
Important: The CPCU in Good Standing program ended on December 31, 2025. Your CPCU designation is not affected — it will never be invalidated for not reporting CE. The only impact of the program ending is that the public Good Standing search list and digital badge are no longer maintained.
Previously earned digital badges from 2025 will be honored through 2027.
What Was Good Standing?
The program formalized the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct’s commitment to continuing education by requiring CPCUs to earn 24 credit hours every two years. With the program’s conclusion, CPCUs indicated they prefer focusing on meaningful educational content rather than reporting requirements.
Using the CPCU Designation
- On LinkedIn or a resume (if still in progress): “CPCU — In Progress — Expected Completion: [date]”
- Logos: The Institutes’ and CPCU Society’s logos may not be used on external websites. The CPCU designation initials may only be used by individuals who hold the designation.
