RMI Professional Waivers (AAI, AAI-M & ACSR)

Modified on Wed, 3 Jun at 10:18 AM

If you hold qualifying risk management and insurance designations, you may be able to waive specific course requirements within the AAI, AAI-M, or ACSR programs.

What is an RMI Professional Waiver?

Note: This waiver type is separate from the academic waiver program available for CPCU, which is based on graduate degrees and professional certifications outside the RMI field.

RMI Professional Waivers allow individuals who hold qualifying risk management and insurance designations to waive specific course requirements within the AAI, AAI-M, or ACSR programs. This pathway recognizes existing professional credentials and lets you earn additional designations more efficiently.

Who is eligible?

Eligibility is based on designations you currently hold. If you hold one or more qualifying Institutes designations, you may be able to waive certain courses in the AAI, AAI-M, or ACSR programs. Specific eligibility details are outlined on the RMI Professional Waivers page at theinstitutes.org under Find Resources → External Waivers → RMI Professional Waivers.

How do I apply?

  1. Log in to your Institutes account.
  2. Go to My Account → Learning Resources.
  3. Find the appropriate waiver application and complete the form.
  4. Submit your application along with any required documentation.

Is there a fee?

Contact Customer Success to confirm whether a fee applies to your specific waiver request, as this may vary depending on the program and the waiver being requested.

How long does processing take?

Allow approximately two weeks for processing once all required documentation has been received.

Can I get a waiver opinion by phone or email before applying?

Important: No. Waiver determinations cannot be provided informally by phone or email. You must submit the formal application to receive an official decision.
