In addition to multiple-choice questions, your Institutes exam may include fill-in-the-blank, drag-and-drop, and numeric entry formats.
What types of questions are on the exam?
In addition to multiple-choice questions, you may see:
- Fill-in-the-blank
- Drag and drop
- Numeric entry
These formats are designed to help you better understand, retain, and apply course content while preparing you for real-world scenarios.
How do I know which question types will be on my exam?
Tip: Complete the interactive exam practice questions and the simulated exam before taking your credentialing exam to familiarize yourself with the question formats.
To protect exam integrity, The Institutes don’t specify which formats appear on specific exams. However, your simulated exam is the best indicator:
- If a question type appears in your simulated exam, it may appear on your credentialing exam.
- If a question type does not appear in your simulated exam, it will not appear on your credentialing exam.
Will I lose points for spelling errors?
No. You will not lose points on fill-in-the-blank questions if your answer contains a common misspelling.
Are all questions weighted equally?
Yes. All questions on an exam are equally weighted.
Are the new question types harder?
The Institutes continuously review success rates and completion times. Data shows that students answer new question types at similar rates as multiple-choice questions.
