If your employer provides a sponsorship letter through USAA and Guild, you can use it to enroll in courses at no personal cost. Here’s how to submit it.
Before You Start
Important: Your sponsorship letter must be dated for the current processing month. A letter dated in a previous month (even last month) cannot be used. If your letter is outdated, request an updated one from your employer through Guild before submitting.
- Obtain your sponsorship letter from your employer through Guild.
- Verify the letter is dated for the current month — see the callout below.
- Know which course and package you want to order (e.g., CPCU 500, Recommended Package).
Steps
- Go to the USAA/Guild course request form on TheInstitutes.org.
- Fill in your name, student ID, and the course and package you’re requesting.
- Upload your sponsorship letter — make sure the date matches the current month.
- Submit the form.
- Allow up to 5 business days for processing. You’ll receive an email confirmation when your course is ready.
Do not email the letter to Customer Success — USAA sponsorship orders must go through the online course request form.
After Submission
- Your course materials will appear in My Courses & Exams once the order is processed.
- If you also need to register for an exam, that’s a separate step — see How to Register for an Exam.
- If you haven’t received confirmation within 5 business days, follow up with Customer Success.
Exam Retakes
If you need to retake an exam, you’ll likely need a new sponsorship letter dated for the current month. Your original letter typically does not cover retakes. Contact your employer through Guild to request an updated letter.
